Tomato rasam recipe is made using tomato and it is excellent in taste and simple to prepare. It is side dish to rice. This could be eaten after the sambar and puli kuzhambu when we eat rice.
Things required for Tomato rasam:
*Tomato -5 (well ripen)
*Red chili -4 pieces (Cut each into two pieces)
*Garlic – 4 cloves
*Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
*Pepper -4 pieces
*Curry leaves -small amount (Cut into small pieces)
*Coriander leaves -Small amount (Cut into small pieces)
*Ground nut oil – 1/2 tea spoon
*Mustard -1/8th of tea spoon
*Salt -required amount
Preparation of Tomato juice for making rasam:
Firstly take all ripen tomato and blend it well using mixie jar. Then keep it aside.
Secondly take cumin seeds, Pepper, garlic, 2 red chili and small amount of curry leaves. And blend them using mixie jar. Keep it aside.
Put vessel in medium flame. Let it heat for sometime. Then add the oil and mustard and wait until mustard burst.
Now, Add the red chili and curry leaves and saute until the red chili turns light brown.
After red chili turns light brown, add the paste we blended(Cumin seeds, red chili, garlic and curry leaves). Saute for few seconds.
Then add the the tomato juice we prepared already. But let the mixer boil for sometime. It should boil till the raw smell of tomato goes off and some more minutes too to get tasty tomato rasam. Add coriander leaves and salt for taste at the end and turn off the stove.
Finally tomato rasam is tasty when we have this with rice. The people with fever can take this rasam with rice to get better digestion. And it improves health.
This tomato rasam could be taken without rice like soup. It would be very tasty and healthy. In South India, they used to prepare this tomato rasam to take after nonvegetable meals. After eating nonveg , they used to take this rasam rice as a result get better digestion.
